I talked regularly on the phone to Francis for about 20 years, though we never actually met (despite his numerous threats of taking me to see shows that were 'too ghastly for words'). Our conversations were always a joy - always welcomed in stressful times - interspersed with riotus laughter, and ohe words "Oh Mr 'Orne" will never be the same again. Rest in peace, Francis.
